As the Crimson completed a three point road weekend, the co-hosts recorded an extended episode with special sophomore guests Eric Kroshus and Ryan Grimshaw. Tom, Kyle and Alex ask Kroshus and Grimshaw the tough questions - and they get some clever and provocative answers. Then the discussion shifts into winter weather, with Kyle and Eric discussing weather in western Canada and Ryan, Tom and Alex talking East Coast winters.
As the Crimson grabbed their third straight ECAC win, Kyle Richter and Alex Biega returned to the booth to recap the off-ice highlights of their trip to Minnesota, including the traditions of Golden Gopher hockey. Then the three co-hosts preview this weekend’s episode, which will feature freshmen Marshall Everson, Luke Greiner, Brendan Rempel and David Valek.
This special four-part episode aired over the weekend during each intermission as the Crimson traveled westward to face the University of Minnesota in a two-game series. Freshmen Louis Leblanc, Danny Biega, Alex Fallstrom and Conor Morrison joined your hosts in the booth, and things started with some icebreaker questions posed by Alex and Kyle. Next the rookies played “The Newly Enrolled Game,” with Alex and Conor going against Louis and Danny. Listen in to find out the winner and hear their prize!
With the holidays behind the team, Alex and Kyle recap their holiday breaks. Alex ventured south with his family to Florida, so hear whether or not he found a warm Christmas to be a good Christmas. In addition, the co-hosts break down their favorite Christmas flicks in the final episode of Top Shelf of 2009.
In the final episode of the second semester, Kyle, Alex and Tom are joined by sophomore forward Rence Coassin. The co-hosts and their special guest discuss Thanksgiving traditions and the upcoming holiday season. The second part of the show features Rence in the hot seat - with Kyle, Alex and Jimmy posing some unusual questions for the sophomore. Due to time constraints, this was the only episode recorded until after the holiday break.
In honor of Harvard-Yale weekend, Alex, Kyle and Tom welcomed Harvard football kicker Pat Long (also host of WHRB’s football halftime show “Kicking a Touchdown”) and football play-by-play man Alasdair Wilkinson to the booth for a special extended episode that aired while the Crimson faced off against Clarkson and St. Lawrence at the Bright Hockey Center.
While Harvard men’s ice hockey embarked a southern ECAC swing, visiting Quinnipiac and Princeton, Alex Biega and Kyle Richter discussed the challenges of the league schedule, and evaluated the various jerseys of the ECAC. Tune in for a surprising choice of favorite team jersey from Alex Biega, as well as some less-controversial insights from Kyle Richter.
As Harvard hockey dropped a pair of road games in upstate New York to Colgate and Cornell, a brand-new episode of Top Shelf aired on WHRB. Senior defenseman Ian Tallett joined Alex Biega, Kyle Richter, and Tom Brennan in the studio. Hear their thoughts on the team’s big win over Dartmouth, as well as a preview of the team’s first real road trip of the season and the off-ice routines that the Crimson save for the road. All three players recap the squad’s Halloween costume selection as well, going over their own choices as well as those of their teammates.
The 2009-10 regular season has finally begun for the Crimson, and senior goaltender John Riley joins Alex, Kyle and Tom in the booth. With Halloween just around the corner, the guys give a preview of some of their teammates costumes - including a trio of Star Wars characters. With eight new faces joining Harvard hockey this season, the co-hosts discuss the conduct of the freshman class on and off the ice. The episode wraps up with some creative and thoughtful stick salutes, especially that of Kyle Richter.
It’s a full booth for the inaugural episode of Top Shelf, Season Six, as Jimmy Fraser swung by campus for one more taping before heading off to begin his professional hockey career. Jimmy joins Alex Biega and Tom Brennan, and Kyle Richter returns to the studio for the first time since 2007-08.
